Details and materials

📐 Dimensions and materials

Three heights: 2 to 4 cm for 1 to 3 years, 4 to 6 cm for 3 to 8, 6 to 9 cm for 8 to 14. Inside, hollow TPE tubes with a wadding fill. The cover is an open-knit cotton mesh with a concealed zip, off in one pull.

🧺 Care and washing

Cover in the machine at 30°C. The inner core does not go in: wipe it with a damp cloth and let it air dry away from heat. Reassemble once both are dry.

How it helps

🌙 What it does while they sleep

A child’s head is lighter than an adult’s and their shoulder sits closer to the neck. Too flat or too thick, and the head tips back, the chin lifts, the mouth opens.

This pillow is shaped rather than flat: a ridge under the neck, a cradle for the head, raised sides for the shoulder. The head sits level whichever way they end up. Most parents notice by the third or fourth morning, not the first. It is a pillow, not a medical device.

👤 Why the wrong pillow harms their face

A night with the mouth open is a night breathing dry air past the tongue instead of through the nose. Orthodontists and speech therapists are the ones who raise this most often. We do not claim a pillow fixes a face: what it can do is stop being the reason the head tips back.

🛏️ How to use it

Lay it flat with the wings facing up and let them settle their head into the central well. Nothing to adjust beyond choosing the right size for their age.

Which size do I take?

📏 They’re 3, or they’re 8: which size?

Between two sizes, take the taller one. A child grows into a height, they do not grow back down into it. At three that means the 3 to 8, unless they are small for their age or have only just left a cot. At eight, the 8 to 14, unless they are slight. Full dimensions on the size guide.

🎒 What if they’re already over 9?

The 8 to 14 height, 6 to 9 cm, runs to 14 years. Past that, or if they are close to adult height, a children’s pillow is no longer the right answer and we would rather tell you than sell you one.

Delivery, returns and guarantee

🚚 Delivery and returns

Orders are taking up to 12 days at the moment. Our usual times are 3 to 5 working days on the UK mainland and 4 to 7 for the Scottish Highlands and Islands and Northern Ireland. Free and tracked on every order, dispatched from the UK.

The pillow travels compressed: give it 24 to 48 hours out of its wrapping to come back to its full height.

↩️ 30 nights to try it at home

30 nights from the day it arrives. Give it at least 10 before you judge: a child needs a few nights to take to a new pillow.

Wrong height and not slept on, we organise the exchange and we pay for it. Money back instead: the full price if it is unused and can go back on sale, 25% if it has been used, nothing if it comes back stained, washed or damaged.

"After 15 years treating children with sleep-disordered breathing, I tell every parent the same thing: 90% of the receding jaws, crowded teeth and long faces I diagnose at 12 could have been avoided with proper airway support between the ages of 3 and 9. This is the first pillow I have seen genuinely designed for that period."

Built Around a Child’s Body. Level Head, Closed Mouth, Calmer Nights.

“Every week I see children who sleep with their mouth open. Most of them sleep on a pillow made for an adult: too high for their small shoulders, so the head tips forward and the neck bends. A child needs the opposite: a lower pillow, matched to their age, that keeps the head level on the back and on the side. This is the first pillow I have seen genuinely designed for that period.”

How it was thought out

The Hushly Kids pillow, seen from the side
  • Their head settles in✅ It sinks into the middle instead of perching on top.
  • Nothing hollow at the neck✅ The gap behind the neck is filled, at their size.

30-Night Sleep Promise

Real Kids. Real Nights.

Fewer 2am visits. Mouths closed at night. Mornings without the grumbles. Here's what parents report. In their own words.

    ★★★★★

My granddaughter, who's five, had been snoring lightly for about a year. Since she's been sleeping on this pillow, her head is better supported and her breathing is calmer at night. I can barely hear her now.

  • A boy asleep on a tall adult pillow, mouth open

The 3 to 8, six-year-old. Six weeks in. He hasn't come into our room in the night since the first few days of it. Whether that's the pillow or just him growing out of the habit I couldn't tell you, but I'm not complaining.

    - Idris M.

  • A boy in a striped top in profile before
The same boy in profile after, head level

My six-year-old son struggled to get comfortable at bedtime. Since he's had his own, he puts his head down and drops off. Four stars because I'd have liked a spare cover in the box, so I could wash one while the other's on the pillow.

The 3 to 8, seven-year-old. He's a front sleeper mostly, which I assumed would make this pointless, and he's ended up on his side more often than he used to be. No idea why. He isn't complaining.

The same girl laughing in the kitchen in the morning

    ★★★★★

Six-year-old, the 3 to 8. Third night in I went to check on her and her head was in the middle of it rather than half off the side. That's the whole reason I bought it.

  • A girl with glasses in profile before, shoulders rounded
The same girl in profile after, standing tall

    ★★★★★

I ordered late one evening because my six-year-old daughter was still waking up with her head at a completely odd angle. From the first few nights she seemed better settled, especially on her side. In the mornings she gets up more calmly, without moaning that her neck is pulling.

My four-year-old daughter had been waking up two or three times a night since she was two. The first night she slept until 6:30, without moving. It's been three weeks now and the night waking has pretty much stopped.

    - Ellis B.

  • A boy at breakfast with dark circles, resting his head on his hand
The same boy smiling on his way to school

    ★★★★★

The 3 to 8 height for my seven-year-old. He wasn't fussed either way at first, then a few nights in he started asking for it by name over his old one.

    - Claire D.

  • A young boy in profile before, chin tucked back
The same boy in profile after, head level

    ★★★★★

We got it at the start of the week and my five-year-old son took to it straight away. He's quite fussy about pillows, he usually pushes them away after ten minutes. The first two nights were much calmer, he moved around less and woke up in a better mood.

    - Maëlys R.

  • A girl with glasses in profile on day 1, mouth open
The same girl in profile on day 60, mouth closed

    ★★★★★

The 8 to 14 for a nine-year-old. Be warned it took her the best part of three weeks to accept it. She kept dragging the old one back in. We hid that one in the end, and since then there's been no bother at all.

    - Katie S.

  • A girl in profile breathing through her mouth
The same girl in profile breathing through her nose

    ★★★★★

Went straight for the 8 to 14 as she's tall for nine. Seems right for her, though it did take about a week before she stopped complaining it was "different" from her old one.

Why Pillows Keep Failing Your Child (It’s Not Your Fault)

A child’s body is built differently: a big head, narrow shoulders, and a neck that’s still growing.

So when they sleep on an adult pillow, their head never sits level: it tips up, the neck bends, and they wriggle until they wake.

And most kids’ pillows don’t even give you a height made for their age: just a smaller adult pillow, with a filling that goes flat.

Hushly Kids fixes both: 3 heights from 2 to 9 cm, matched to their age, filled with hollow TPE tubes, so their head stays level as they turn.

A child asleep on the Hushly Kids pillow: head cradled, neck supported, mouth closed, spine aligned

What changes, night after night.

The little moments parents tell us they noticed first.

  1. Nights 1-3: The first quiet night

At 11pm, their head is in the middle of the pillow, not hanging off the edge.

    • Your childThey settle faster. The pillow stays on the bed.

    • YouYou go to bed without waiting for the first call.

  2. Week 1: Fewer calls in the night

At 3am, the duvet is still on them.

    • Your childThey turn less and wake less.

    • YouOne wake-up instead of three. You start sleeping again.

  3. Weeks 2-3: Mouth closed

You listen at the door: soft breathing through the nose.

    • Your childNo more dry mouth or damp pillow in the morning.

    • YouNo more little feet at 2am. Your bed is yours again.

  4. Night 30: Mornings change

They come down to breakfast in a good mood, without being dragged out of bed.

    • Your childMore energy at school, calmer at bedtime.

    • YouYour evening is yours, and you wake up before the alarm.

And the years that count: between 3 and 9, the face and jaw take shape. A closed mouth at night is the habit that counts most.

Hushly Kids vs an adult pillow

What parents tell us they notice.

  • They sleep through to morning: the head stays put, at the right height.
  • However they sleep: back, side or front, the head sits level.
  • A pillow that grows with them: 3 heights, from age 1 to 14.
  • Safe right next to them: tested by an independent lab.

The 30-Night
Promise

Use it every night for 30 nights. Most children need about ten to get used to a new pillow. If they're not sleeping better, email us within 30 nights and we'll make it right: a different height, or your money back.

No questionnaire, no hoops. A short video of the pillow is all we ask. The trial in full

Before you decide

We answer

What age is it for?

It comes in three heights, for children from 1 to 14 years. You choose the one that suits your child's age.

My child moves about a lot at night, does it still work?

Yes, that's exactly what it's for. The pillow keeps its shape and brings the head back to the right place. The neck stays properly held, even when they wriggle.

On their back, their side or their front?

All three. The pillow holds their head properly, whichever way they drop off.

What's it made of?

A lovely soft, cool cover, and inside it hollow TPE tubes with a wadding fill. The tubes let the air through and hold their head and neck properly. The cover keeps your child dry and goes in the machine at 30°C.

Is the pillow safe for my child?

Yes. It has been tested by an independent laboratory against children's product safety standards: the safety of the materials and the shape, fire resistance and chemical safety, with no harmful substances.

Can it be washed?

The cover, yes: it unzips and goes in the machine at 30°C. Air-dry it, no tumble dryer and no iron, so it keeps its shape and stays soft. The inner core never goes in the machine: wipe it with a damp cloth and let it air-dry away from heat.

How long before we see a difference?

Plenty of parents write to us after the very first nights: the child moves about less and wakes up better rested. It's often clearest with children who sleep badly.

And if it isn't right for us?

You have 30 nights to try it at home. If the height is wrong for your child and they have not slept on it, we exchange it free and we pay for the exchange. If you would rather have your money back, the amount follows the state the pillow comes back in, and the full scale is set out on our 30 Night Trial page. Separately from all of that you keep your statutory right to cancel within 14 days of delivery, with no reason to give and no video to send.

Where is the pillow made?

We design it ourselves and it's made in a partner workshop that specialises in children's pillows, to a strict specification. Every stage of manufacture is checked, and every pillow is inspected one by one before it leaves. The materials are tested free of harmful substances: the pillow has passed chemical safety testing.

30 nights to try it, at home

Use it every night for 30 nights. If they're not sleeping better, we'll make it right: a different height, or your money back.

So, you asked me about those kids' pillows, yeah? Honestly, my son had never, ever slept with a pillow. He always said they were uncomfortable. Anyway, I got two from Hushly Kids: the 3 to 8 for him, he's five, and the 8 to 14 for my daughter, she's nearly eleven. And now he loves his. It's much thinner, it actually fits his neck properly. My daughter thought hers was a bit firm at first, coming from a normal pillow. But she got used to it really quickly, and she's sleeping so much better. She's actually rested in the mornings now. So yeah, I'm really happy with them. Honestly, just get them.

Eleven and tall with it, so I went for the 8 to 14. It's the right depth for him. My only quibble is that the box it turns up in is enormous for what's inside.

Three stars because I'm not convinced my ten-year-old needed it. He's on the 8 to 14 and he slept fine before, and he sleeps fine now. Nothing wrong with the pillow itself, it's well made, it just hasn't changed anything here. Might be a different story for a child who was actually struggling.
